The 2010 Spring National High School Journalism convention is coming to Portland!

The organizing committee had their first meeting with JEA Executive Director Linda Putney, NSPA Executive Director Logan Aimone and NSPA Member Services Director Emily Griesser on March 28. The convention will be held April 15-18 at the Oregon Convention Center. Four hotels are co-sponsoring the event: the Double Tree, Crowne Plaza, Hilton and Red Lion.

The theme for the convention will be "Portland. Current." which ties in with both Portland's location on the banks of the Willamette River and the hope to feature much of the new technology that has come to the field of journalism at the convention.

OJEA President Erin Simonsen and past president J.D. McIntire will serve as co-chairs of the local organizing committee. The committee needs a lot of help from the Portland scholastic journalism community to make this event a memorable one. Please contact either J.D. or Erin if you are interested in helping.
