Gladstone adviser Steve Carrigg was elected Oregon State JEA Director by the OJEA membership in the fall of 2008. Carrigg advises both the newspaper and yearbook at Gladstone High School and is a past president of OJEA. Carrigg replaces Nancy Giuliani who retired after serving in the position for over 20 years.

The State Director is the liason between the OJEA and the national JEA organization. He is in charge of the OJEA Student Journalist of the Year competition.
