The Oregon Journalism Education Association is an organization whose primary goal is to support journalism teachers and publications advisers around the state.

Regular membership is open to advisers and instructors at both public and private secondary schools, community colleges or schools and departments of journalism in universities or colleges. Former advisers and instructors in the areas listed above are also eligible unless they are engaged in commercial activities which might represent a conflict of interest.

School members (all journalism advisory positions within a particular school or college), organizational members (associations, organizations and businesses with a vested interest in scholastic journalism) and media members (any commercial journalism-related businesses) are also encouraged. However, only regular members may serve as officers.

The Board of Directors of OJEA are the President, Vice-President, Secretary, Treasurer, State JEA Director, Regional JEA Director (when from the state), Northwest Scholastic Press Director, Past President of OJEA and a member-at-large appointed by the board.

Board meetings are held four times a year and are open to all current members of the OJEA. Meetings are scheduled by the president and are held at a location convenient and agreeable to the board.

The OJEA fiscal year runs from September 1 to August 31. All officers are elected for 3-year terms. The next board elections will be held in 2010.
